The Artist

In her several decades of experience as a concert performer, Smt. Rajalakshmi has accompanied artists such as Smt. M.L. Vasanthakumari, Smt. D.K. Pattamal, Smts Saroja and Lalitha, Smts. Radha and Jayalakshmi, Smt. Mani Krishnaswamy, Smt. Sudha Raghunathan, Smt Aruna Sairam, Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Shri. N. Ramani, Shri. Mandolin Srinivas, and many more. She has also performed several solo concerts. She has taken her music to many countries including Malaysia, Singapore, USA, and Japan. She performed at the international festival held at Okayama, Japan in September 1993.
She worked for the AIR as a staff artiste for about a decade and directed and produced many musical features during her tenure.
A creative composer, Smt. Rajalakshmi has composed lilting tunes for lyrics by renowned poets like Bharati and Vadiraja. She has also composed for international ballets.


Awards
Among the many titles and awards conferred on her are Kala Jyothi by Sri Thyagaraja Bhajana Sabha, Sangeetha Bhushana by Ramakrishna Bhajana Sabha, and recently, "Swarabhushani" by Gayana Samaja. Smt. Rajalakshmi was awarded The Music Academy's prestigious Pappa Venkatramaiah award for violin on January 1, 2015.
